Japandi style –

How to make functionality go hand in hand with simplicity and coziness in our home? The answer is the japandi style.

There is no doubt that it has recently won the hearts of people around the world – all due to the pandemic that awakened in us the need to make our home both an oasis of peace and tranquility, and a perfectly functional workplace. What is the japandi style? What elements does it use? How to introduce it in your home? You can learn it in our article.

Japan style – what is it?

The japandi style is nothing but a combination of styles originating from Japan and Scandinavia. In short: it combines a large amount of light and the use of natural elements and subdued colors typical of scandi, and following the principle of “less is more”, which is characteristic of the Japanese style. However, if this definition in a nutshell does not satisfy you, we can focus a little more on the components of the japandi style.

What he draws from scandi is primarily natural raw materials such as light wood and a taste for functionality and coziness. In interiors decorated in the japandi style, as in the case of the Scandinavian style, there must be a lot of daylight – this means that while staying in such rooms, we will feel relaxed and at ease. It will also be influenced by the bright colours of furniture and accessories, which are also based on motifs known from the scandi style. In rooms decorated in japandi, we find mainly soft, delicate colours: beige, white and gray.

Remember, however, that there should not be too many pieces of furniture and accessories – in japandi, careful selection of what we use to arrange our space is appreciated. This is one aspect that the style has drawn from the trends in the country of the rising sun. So don’t clutter your space with unnecessary knick-knacks. In the case of japandi, minimalism is something very desirable.

Following the Japanese style of interior design, it is worth noting that not everything in japandi has to be perfect and brand new. When decorating their homes, the Japanese make great use of old furniture and give them a new life. In other words: a little creativity is enough for antiques and vintage furniture to become the greatest decoration of your interior.

Japandi – what materials to use?

What materials are characteristic of the japandi style? In this case, we focus on everything that relates to nature. So put on wood – preferably light – and clay. Clay vases will be a perfect match for this type of interior. When it comes to textiles, choose leather, linen and wool. Although it may seem that using such materials, we will get a raw and unpleasant interior, it is only a wrong first impression. The simplicity of the raw materials used will make your apartment not only very practical, but also beautiful and even perfect for relaxation during breaks from the home office.

How to bring japandi into your home?
